SUMMARY:Unjudged: A story of neurodiversity from the life of Lorna McHugh
DESCRIPTION:1 in 7 people can be described as “neurodivergent, including some well known figures such as Keira Knightley, Jennifer Aniston, Cher and Princess Beatrice. But what can neurodiversity actually mean for a woman’s life and experiences?\nLorna McHugh is the Head of Data Governance at the Crown Commercial Service. She is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, who has worked on large-scale infrastructure projects across the construction and transport industry. She is also dyslexic, and champions neurodiversity in the civil service by chairing the CCS Disability Network.\nLorna has agreed to share her experiences of neurodiversity, both challenges and successes. By doing so, she wants to challenge our stereotypes, build our understanding and hopefully help us to be more aware and appreciative of difference.\nOur Unjudged series creates opportunities to hear a story from the lives of other women. By having the courage to step into these stories we broaden our understanding of the breadth of human experience. \nYou, the listener, will be invited to listen deeply and question respectfully. And when you do, you gift the storyteller the opportunity to have their story truly heard. Together, we will build our awareness, challenge our stereotypes and prejudices, and learn to step into the shoes of others. \nEach event will last 30-45 minutes, depending on the questions arising from the audience. Unjudged events will take place every other month, and will focus on the many and varied experiences of women. If you have a story that you wish to tell, please do get in touch with us: becoming@becoming.training.\n
